Take Action!

Become a #ThreadofAction!

Take action and become a thread of action during and beyond Woman Abuse Prevention Month this November the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence.

  1. Wear a purple scarf : as a visible thread of solidarity for survivors of GBV and the agencies that provide them with vital support. Purchase your scarf here.
  2. Get involved: volunteer and become part of the fabric of support available through local GBV services
  3. Learn more: thread knowledge into your community by learning about local GBV organizations and the specific supports they offer (mulberryfinder.ca
  4. Share resources: let family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues know where they can find gender-based violence support in your community
  5. Challenge stereotypes: unravel harmful norms and myths with conversations that shift perspectives around gender equity and recognize the high rates of violence and femicide against Indigenous, Black, South Asian and South East Asian women and girls
  6. Support shelters: strengthen the support networks that are there every hour of every day for survivors and their children through an in-kind donation and supporting calls for increased funding to GBV services
  7. Use social media: to spread the threads of awareness with hashtags like #16Days and knowledge about resources like #Mulberryfinder
  8. Connect with leaders: email, call, or write a letter to your local MPP and bring awareness to the issue of gender-based violence. Ask them to become a #ThreadofActionfor survivors by addressing systemic issues that contribute to high rates of femicide, including a lack of affordable housing, inadequate income supports, and non-criminal justice responses to violence.
